Public Health U Regulations for Postgraduate-Level Awards in Public Health
The Public Health U Master’s level program will enable graduates to gain a Master of Public Health (MPH) award from EUCLID without extra coursework. This requires students to adhere to the
Public Health U Educational Policies.
Pass marks and requirements
1. A Masters-level award in Public Health requires successfully completing eight (8) modules (complying with the required modules), plus the dissertation module, at Masters-level.
2. A Diploma-level award in Public Health requires successfully completing eight (8) modules (complying with the required modules) at Masters-level, but not the dissertation module.
3. A Certificate-level award in Public Health requires successfully completing four (4) modules at Masters-level.
4. The Masters-level pass mark is 65% for all awards.
Enrollment to the Master/Diploma-level Award Program
1. Students are eligible to apply for the program if they have successfully passed two modules at the 65% level AND have not failed ANY module (failing a module means not achieving a 65% mark after one submission plus two resubmissions).
2. Students wishing to study for a Diploma-level award must also apply for the Masters-level Program under the same conditions.
The clauses below apply to all students studying in the Master/Diploma-level award program:
Re-enrollment in modules
Students are permitted to enroll in any module up to two times in total (i.e., re-enroll one more time in the same module in a later semester), except if they have already failed a second resubmission. Before the second re-enrollment, students will be required to pass a remediation course.
Non-completion of modules
1. Students have to submit assignments in all modules unless they request to be unenrolled or suspend their studies (by sending an email to
support.mph@nextgenu.org) before Topic 2 within the semester.
2. Non-completion of modules may result in studies being terminated.
Re-submissions
A total of three submissions are allowed for any single module (one submission and two resubmissions). A second resubmission is not an automatic right, and it will only be permitted if the first resubmission demonstrates significant improvements. This also applies to the right to re-enroll after a 1st resubmission. In any resubmission, students are expected to highlight changes they make in response to markers’ comments.
Progression during the program
The Education Committee confirms all final module grades and decides upon progression of individual students to the next phase of the program. Specifically, the Committee decides upon progression to the Dissertation module based on a judgment of each student’s demonstrated ability to cope with the academic requirements of the Dissertation.
Students are eligible to apply for the dissertation module if they comply with the following requirements:
-Complete the Epidemiology and Biostatistics module with a passing grade at a Masters-level.
-Complete eight modules with a passing grade at a Masters-level.
-Not having failed any module (failing a module means not achieving a 65% mark after one submission plus two resubmissions).
Note: All these requirements need to be completed in less than six years.
Duration of study and interruptions/suspensions
1. Students are expected to pass the modules required for a Masters-level award within a maximum of six years (12 semesters). However, students in the Masters-program need to
demonstrate continuous commitment through regular enrollment in modules and submission of assignments, unless extenuating circumstances can be demonstrated.
Repeated enrollment in modules without completing them is seen as a break in continuous commitment.
2. Students who are for any reason unable to continue their studies must apply for a suspension of studies from the Academic Coordinator at the earliest opportunity.
This does not alter the requirement to complete the program within six years.
Certificate-level award in Public Health
Students qualify for a Certificate-level award in Public Health after passing four (4) modules at a Masters-level. The same regulations on resubmissions and re-enrollments apply as for Diploma/Masters Program students.
Appeals:
Students can appeal to the above rules based on unforeseen exceptional circumstances and presenting justification. The Education Committee will hear appeals via the Academic Coordinator.
The appeals process will consider the validity of these circumstances against the need to uphold the organization’s academic standards at the postgraduate level and fairness for all students.
